In the modern era, characterized by the widespread use of technology and an overwhelming number of easily consumable digital content such as video streaming, social stories, reels, podcasts, and accessible across numerous devices like smartphones, TVs, smartwatches, voice assistants, artificial intelligence, the multiverse, and immersive reality, the act of reading is facing new challenges. In this context, it is crucial to explore the social significance of reading and understand its role in today’s society. Despite the advent of various digital entertainment forms, reading maintains a unique position in the cultural landscape.

Reading as Human Connection:
Reading is an activity that demands engagement and concentration, offering a different experience from the passive consumption of multimedia content. Reading a book requires active involvement from the reader, who must imagine the stories, create mental images, and interpret the text. This active engagement can foster a sense of human connection as the reader empathizes with characters and experiences their emotions and challenges.
